Grizzly BearThe Grizzly Bear is one of the most well known endangered species in the Boreal Forest. A study conducted in 2010 showed that the population of grizzlies in all of Alberta, Canada was only 691 individuals. Some of the main causes as to why the grizzlies are endangered are due to habitat loss and hunting. With increases of mining, and deforestation in the Boreal forest, this leads to less habitat for grizzlies to find nessasry resources, and shelter. Also, without the thick landscape, grizzlies can't camoflouge as well, and are more easily spotted by humans. Some steps taken to protect grizzlies are to preserve large areas of land in the boreal forest, and to limit the amount of areas humans can hunt in.

WolverineThe Wolverine is also an endangered species in the Boreal Forest, mainly due to the building of roads. Road density creates avoidance behavior by wolverines, which causes them to travel to different parts for resources. This can be a problem because Wolverines are extremely territorial, and when crossing paths in another Wolverine's territory, they often fight to the death. Also, there is an increase in mortality risk due to trapping, hunting, and collisions with vehicles. Currently, the CBFA (resource agency located in Canada) is taking actions such as decommissioning roads to reduce road density, and educating the public about the importance of Wolverines to the Boreal forest.

Woodland CaribouThe Woodland Caribou is an endangered species in the Boreal forest, mainly due to loss of habitat. At least half of the caribou's range has been lost due to activities that disturb their habitat, such as road building, and deforestation. However, different agencies are working with federal governments to protect and restore caribou habitat in the Boreal forest, using different methods of science. Some methods are finding out how much habitat loss the Caribou can handle without becoming extinct, and also finding the perfect environment Caribou need to thrive off of. This is used to restore the Caribou's natural habitat with the correct resources.
